Make Your Period Happier and Easier

Make Your Period Happier and Easier

Yes, periods can be happy and easy. It means having regular periods, minimized or no pain, no rash, a happy mood and good energy levels.
It will result from not just what you do or don’t do during your periods but is also from your non-period days.

Here are a few tips with which you can make periods easier and happier:

a. Healthful diet & routines - Have a healthy diet, not an undernourished diet. Eat wholesome and feel wholesome. Don’t run behind fad diets. Traditional Indian home-cooked meals comprising dal, rice, roti smeared with Desi Ghee, subji and dahi are among the healthiest of options. A bowl of local, seasonal fruits and a bowl of vegetable salad added to your diet will work as your multivitamin supplements.

b. Discipline your mealtime and sleep time - Late or irregular meals can severely impact your health in the long run. There should be a gap of at least 2 hours between dinner and bedtime always. A good uninterrupted sleep of 7-8 hours will keep your energy levels high even during periods.

c. Physical exercises - Any form of physical exercise in your daily or weekly routine will have an incredible impact on your overall well-being.

d. Meditation - Practicing meditation is an excellent remedy for your mental peace and overall strength. With the help of meditation, your PMS symptoms such as anger, irritation and frustration will also minimize.

e. Drink water - During periods, many menstruators drink less water because they think it will increase menstrual blood flowing out of their body. It is not so. Water keeps you hydrated, more energetic, reduces bloating and thus minimizes pain as well.

f. Make mother Earth happy - Use reusable pads, menstrual cups, reusable period underwear, organic tampons, or biodegradable and compostable sanitary pads. It will reduce the burden on our Earth as well as on our hormones. For your skin too they are the best options as they do not give rashes. So you will feel mentally peaceful. At ‘The Pink box’, you will easily find your choice of eco-friendly menstrual products.

g. Use hot water bags or ice packs - When in pain, you can use a hot water bottle/bag or heating pad on your abdomen for some relief. Ice packs and gel packs are also known to relieve period cramps.

h. Pain patches/ balms - Instead of popping painkillers during periods and facing side effects, it is always better to use the Period Pain Relief patches or balms or oils, etc. These products are herbal and thus, they are rarely harmful. The Pink Box has many options for you!

i. Follow menstrual hygiene practices - Menstrual hygiene practices can make your periods much easier. For example, wearing a comfortable cotton panty and washing or wiping your vaginal area before changing a new pad will minimize skin rashes.
